Cats As Carnivorous Predators Essay Example For Students

Felines As Carnivorous Predators Essay Felines as Carnivorous PredatorsThroughout the course of advancement the felines capacity to make due in the wild has gotten amazingly reliant upon its chasing capacity. All together for non domesticated, or undomesticated, felines to get by all alone in the wild they have created innate qualities and senses from their progenitors all through time. In spite of the fact that these genetic attributes that they have acquired are useful for undomesticated felines, they can regularly cause issues when tamed house felines return to the methods of their progenitors, frequently impacting the manners in which that felines kept as pets are overseen. Felines are rapacious predators and pet proprietors must oblige this way of life by taking care of them a meat-based eating routine with high protein, giving them a play outlet to maintain a strategic distance from savage animosity, just as keeping them inside or observing their exercises while outside to stay away from the superfluous slaughtering of feathered creatures or some other kind of creature. As flesh eating predators, felines require a high protein, meat-based eating regimen. The requirement for a meat-based eating routine is basic in light of the fact that the meat is frequently high in proteins and calories, however it additionally has a lot of amino acids, particularly taurine, which is significant in the improvement of vision. Pet proprietors must know that the protein prerequisite for maximal development for little cats is 24 % when the eating regimen surpasses the entirety of the basic amino corrosive necessities (Journal of Nutrition, High Dietary Protein and Taurine pg.2228). Carnivores need this measure of protein at a youthful age to assemble muscle for chasing and to keep them very much supported. The eating regimen of the feline depends on advancement and they ought to be taken care of as per their phase of improvement towards a grown-up feline. In the wild, felines eat pretty much anything they can get their paws on; rodents, mice, feathered creatures, and reptiles. Cats have a requirement for more significant levels of protein and calories for legitimate advancement until they arrive at the age of year and a half, when the degrees of protein drop to the perfect measure of protein to continue themselves. Another motivation behind why felines need to have a solid meat-based eating regimen is on the grounds that they have a shorter stomach related framework than most omnivores and herbivores. They need to retain more supplements in a shorter measure of time, in this way the requirement for a great deal of protein since they have an exceptionally brief timeframe to process it. Being a meat eating predator, the feline needs a play outlet other than its standard living space or t he proprietor may turn into the object of play ruthless hostility. All creatures need incitement or some likeness thereof to prepare for fatigue. The curious idea of the feline makes them in many cases become damaging returning to genealogical practices looking for consideration. When the feline gets the consideration that it wants they frequently will keep on showing the characteristics of a predator and tail its proprietor like prey and nibble or endeavor to handle whatever moves. There are numerous approaches to keep a house feline from returning to its ruthless senses, for example, giving the feline play toys, spurting that feline with water at whatever point it makes an assault, just as getting a subsequent feline to stay with one another. A third and last test in possessing a meat eating predator is the way that proprietors should frequently consider keeping the felines inside with an end goal to maintain a strategic distance from the pointless executing of winged animals, rodents, reptiles, and other little warm blooded creatures. As opposed to what appears presence of mind that a feline with a full tummy has no motivation to chase the proof is overpowering that even mollified very much thought about house felines are frequently intuitive, enormously successful predators (Luoma, Audubon: Catfight. pg.86). Felines chase as an endurance system. Through development the felines capacity to endure relied on its chasing capacity. The felines innate impulses are a central point in the motivation behind why felines are frequently ready to slaughter, even on a full stomach. As an endeavor to diminish the quantity of passings that felines cause in the number of inhabitants in rodents, reptiles, feathered creatures, and differe nt well evolved creatures, feline proprietors should attempt to keep their pets inside and screen their exercises while they are outside or in play outlets on the grounds that, wandering felines as a rule including cordial house-hold dark-striped cat aggregately harm untamed life, winged creatures, little warm blooded animals, and reptiles than anybody at any point expected (Luoma, Audubon: Catfight. pg.86). Pet proprietors must oblige the way of life of their feline as a predatory predator. A meat-based eating regimen will give the feline high proteins, calories, just as a decent measure of amino acids to help the feline through the phases of advancement and keep the feline all around supported and solid. A play outlet is basic for keeping the feline occupied and helps keep felines out of underhandedness and maintains a strategic distance from misled savage hostility from the feline to the proprietor. Additionally, feline proprietors must know about the exercises of their pet while the feline is outside or in play outlets to maintain a strategic distance from the trivial slaughtering of unneeded prey in feathered creatures, rodents, reptiles, and other little warm blooded animals. Keeping rapacious predators as pets can as a rule be troublesome and tedious however with the right administrative strategies, keeping a feline as a pet is extremely low support. .u630498b3d84f4ddcd1ab460554759a5b , .u630498b3d84f4ddcd1ab460554759a5b .postImageUrl , .u630498b3d84f4ddcd1ab460554759a5b .focused content territory { min-tallness: 80px; position: relative; } .u630498b3d84f4ddcd1ab460554759a5b , .u630498b3d84f4ddcd1ab460554759a5b:hover , .u630498b3d84f4ddcd1ab460554759a5b:visited , .u630498b3d84f4ddcd1ab460554759a5b:active { border:0!important; } .u630498b3d84f4ddcd1ab460554759a5b .clearfix:after { content: ; show: table; clear: both; } .u630498b3d84f4ddcd1ab460554759a5b { show: square; change: foundation shading 250ms; webkit-progress: foundation shading 250ms; width: 100%; darkness: 1; change: obscurity 250ms; webkit-progress: haziness 250ms; foundation shading: #95A5A6; } .u630498b3d84f4ddcd1ab460554759a5b:active , .u630498b3d84f4ddcd1ab460554759a5b:hover { murkiness: 1; change: mistiness 250ms; webkit-change: mistiness 250ms; foundation shading: #2C3E50; } .u630498b3d84f4ddcd1ab460554759a5b .focused content zone { width: 100%; position: relativ e; } .u630498b3d84f4ddcd1ab460554759a5b .ctaText { outskirt base: 0 strong #fff; shading: #2980B9; text dimension: 16px; textual style weight: striking; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; text-enhancement: underline; } .u630498b3d84f4ddcd1ab460554759a5b .postTitle { shading: #FFFFFF; text dimension: 16px; textual style weight: 600; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; width: 100%; } .u630498b3d84f4ddcd1ab460554759a5b .ctaButton { foundation shading: #7F8C8D!important; shading: #2980B9; fringe: none; outskirt range: 3px; box-shadow: none; text dimension: 14px; textual style weight: intense; line-stature: 26px; moz-fringe span: 3px; text-adjust: focus; text-design: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-tallness: 80px; foundation: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/modules/intelly-related-posts/resources/pictures/straightforward arrow.png)no-rehash; position: supreme; right: 0; top: 0; } .u630498b3d84f4ddcd1ab460554759a5b:hover .ctaButton { foundation shading: #34495E!important; } .u630498b3d84f4ddcd 1ab460554759a5b .focused content { show: table; stature: 80px; cushioning left: 18px; top: 0; } .u630498b3d84f4ddcd1ab460554759a5b-content { show: table-cell; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; cushioning right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-adjust: center; width: 100%; } .u630498b3d84f4ddcd1ab460554759a5b:after { content: ; show: square; clear: both; } READ: The Salem Witch Trials - A Research Paper EssayCategory: Science

Theory Of Planned Behaviour Essay Research Paper free essay sample

Hypothesis Of Planned Behavior Essay, Research Paper The Theory of Planned Behavior: Nurses Attitudes towards Older Patients Edmund Fitzgerald O Connor 9724709 Reflection The Theory of Planned Behavior was tried in a review for its capacity to predict reason to act in explicit manners towards more established patients. There were 172 points from 3 Scots colleges, Napier, Edinburgh and Abertay Dundee. The outcomes picked up from a poll propose that the Theory of Planned conduct can be utilized to predict social reasons for medical attendants when working with more seasoned patients. Medical attendants reason to act was anticipated by their perspectives to a great extent, saw conduct control other than conveyed a significant beta weight albeit cultural standards were seen as non significant. The basic convictions of perspectives, abstract standards and saw social controls were other than explored in footings of expectation esteem hypothetical records. Medical caretakers with inspirational perspectives towards more established patients were found to keep persistent orientated qualities, and occupation fulfillment, a greater amount of import than other si gnificant qualities. We will compose a custom paper test on Hypothesis Of Planned Behavior Essay Research Paper or on the other hand any comparative subject explicitly for you Don't WasteYour Time Recruit WRITER Just 13.90/page Medical caretakers are other than increasingly propelled to follow with ranking staff that may parcel their inspirational perspectives other than. One impact of the current discoveries is that more prominent degrees of help by ranking staff and methods of expanding occupation fulfillment will better the degrees of consideration and intercession for more seasoned patients. Presentation Last twelvemonth, for the principal clasp ever, the created conditions of the universe had a bigger number of individuals matured 60 and over than youthful people matured 14 and under. For the universe all in all, a similar will be valid by the twelvemonth 2043. The per centum extent of more seasoned individuals in Western Europe is anticipated to increment by 14.8 % , 8.8 in Japan and 2.7 % in the U.S. ( U.S Census organization ) . Two significant powers drive the dislodging in age appropriation. In the first place, birth rates are exacerbating in many pieces of the universe, however especially in the industrialized states. furthermore, second, life expectation is expanding about everyplace. The U.K is a chief outline of this wonder. In 1999 16 % of the populace was 65 and over ( DOH 1999 ) . With the happening to new clinical forte and mediation for increasingly more unwellnesss and ailments the inclination will increment. The findings of a human populace that is both turning and maturing are army and stressing. Progresss in clinical logical control, sustenance and fittingness, and in any event, bioengineering point to the twenty-four hours when numerous human presences will hold the alternative of life well past the age of 100 ( CSIS planetary endeavor 99 ) . The matured have been for a long clasp the best clients of medicinal services ( Lefebre et al. 1979 ) . It very well may be derived that this interest w ill proceed to lift as the matured populace does. About portion of the NHS outgo in 1999 was spent on the consideration of the more than 65 this compares to 5.21 billion lbs ( DOH 1999 ) . From emergency clinic beds to remedies the matured were answerable for the more noteworthy segment of the expense. In the bleeding edge of human services are medical attendants, who play an essential capacity in providing backing and stipulation The perceptual experience and perspectives of these essential wellbeing experts will extraordinarily affect the reaction to the turning work. It has aforesaid been recommended that these mindful administrations will be extended to intruding on point in future ( Martin et al. 1988 ; Redfern, 1991 ) . Past examination on perspectives of medical caretakers towards the matured has taken a gander at the a wide range of parts of essential nursing consideration of the matured. At one terminal of the range Robb ( 1967 ) featured representations of cruel treatment and abuse inside the consideration of the matured. Correspondingly in the USA Stannard ( 1973 ) indicated that systematized barbaric treatment existed on the two sides of the Atlantic. The two records are non con yet one only needs to glance in the ongoing significance to see representations of deliberate abuse and negative perspectives. Harold Shipman was sentenced for killing 15 matured patients in his consideration, similarly a medical attendant was indicted for the killing of 3 matured patients. Models, for example, these, taken with grounds of an expanding matured populace, demonstrate that the interest to comprehend the common restriction of consideration laborers perspectives is squeezing The request of which are the correct perspectives towards the matured has been a treatment point in the days gone by. This idea and the review of current mentalities of consideration laborers and how they have been shaped has been the get bringing down purpose of the main part of work inside this field. Taking a gander at the idea of the correct mentality Irvine ( 1970 ) recommended that the correct demeanor towards the matured ought to be developed from trustworthiness, respect, understanding, and the capacity to advance. In any case, the cardinal idea of the correct disposition has been brought into request by many. Ingham and Fielding request whether there is an individual right disposition recommending this is subject to foundations purposes and the perceptual experience of more seasoned individuals as people. Organizations are more worried about smooth running than the requests of single patients. Anyway this philosophical assault is of little guide when turn toing the activity and in surveies which show categorizing and killjoy in working with the matured, treatment on the rightness of right perspectives has demonstrated of little use. Care of the matured has for some clasp been a disliked field inside social insurance ( Ray et al. , 1987 ; Solomon A ; Vickers, 1979 ; Mutschler, 1971 ) . Past examination featured the hesitance to work with more seasoned patients in hospitals and nursing places ( Campbell, 1971 ; Gillis, 1973 ; Gunter,1971 ) Why should this be the example in any event, when the matured are perceived as the gathering most sought after, in the public eye ( Hardie, 1975 ) ? Therapists have looked towards categorizing and agism for potential answers. Ageism, a term premier instituted by Butler ( 1969 ) , is a method of methodical generalizing of, and partiality against individuals since they are old ( Butler A ; Lewis 1975 p117 ) . Ageism and generalizing has been created as a potential ground for the negative perceptual experience and conduct to the matured. Not all examination has discovered similar outcomes. Schoenfeild ( 1982 ) and Treharne ( 1990 ) recommended that in reality there is no grounds to propose negative perspectives towards the matured exists. Anyway the main part of exploration has demonstrated negative generalizing of the matured ( Levin, 1988 ; Ray et al. , 1987 ) . It has been contended that mentalities held by proficient laborers, for example, medical caretakers would straight be able to locate the nature of consideration given to elderly folks individuals ( Wells, 1980 ; Fielding,1986 ; Armstrong-Esther et al. , 1989 ) . Most of examination on medical attendants mentalities towards the matured has concentrated on the level of planning and encounters of respondents and how these affected on their perspectives. A brief time of arrangement or intervention has brought about increases in uplifting perspectives towards the matured ( Gunter, 1971 ; Robb, 1979 ; Tobiason et al. , 1979 ) , the heft of this work focusing on medical caretakers. Snape ( 1986 ) all things considered discovered opposite grounds. Understudy medical attendants who had been producing for 2-3 mature ages held more negative perspectives than late selected attendants. Snape recommended this was because of the nonappearance from guidance, of overabundance straight explicit stuff to make with the matured. Different factors, for example, highlights of the medical attendants and patients have been examined including age race, sex, and grade of consideration required. On the subject of evaluation of consideration surveies have indicated that the more noteworthy the reliance of a patient the more prominent the negative mentalities appeared by the medical caretaker ( Fielding, 1979 ) . The advancements referenced above ( Gunter, 1971 ; Robb, 1979 ; Tobiason et al. , 1979 ) have to a great extent originate from a positive get bringing down degree. Some exploration has demonstrated antagonistic mentalities yet the mass has indicated indifferent to uplifting perspectives ( Slevin, 1991 ) . One should first articulation at the methodological cogency when drawn closer with this logical inconsistency. One answer to this activity is that all through the distinctive surveies there have been wide extents of methodological analysiss, which can propose hard in pulling direct looking at. The main part of the old surveies have taken a gander at perspectives of medical attendants and deduced the level of consideration related. ( Wells, 1980 ; Fielding, 1986 ; Armstrong-Esther et al. , 1989 ) Other surveies have attempted to decipher those perspectives into a reason to act. Investigation of existent conduct is begging to be proven wrong in specific settings, and few have endeavored this convincingly. Set up, the past exploration offers a confused mosaic non rather covering each part of a mind boggling request. Past examination has non endeavored to separate out and explain reason to act from mentalities and appears to miss out entirely other act uponing factors. Past exploration shows that perspectives albeit cardinal, are non the solitary prognostic factor in elucidating conduct ( Wicker, 1969 ; Kraus, 1995 ) . In the current study a test into medical attendants mentalities towards the matured will focus on the hypothesis of sound activity as a model to prognosticate a reason to conduct and subsequently the ground for that conduct. Perspectives The # 8220 ; demeanor # 8221 ; idea got its first genuine going to from Darwin in 1872. Darwin characterized demeanor as an engine develop, or the physical look of a feeling. For early clinicians, # 8220 ; disposition # 8221 ; was a feeling or thought with a motoric ( conduct ) constituent. In certain occurrences, the motoric constituent was sub-vocal location ; in different cases, net conduct, for example, postural modification, was of association. Girl by Jamaica Kncaid Essay Sample

In 1978, Jamaica Kncaid wrote a great story that has a name â€Å"Girl†. It was published in The New Yorker and became the first published piece of writing of this author. In 1983, this short fiction story was included in the collection called â€Å"At the bottom of the river†. It became very popular in the past among different groups of people, like teenagers, African-Americans, and women. Nowadays, it is also very popular among people because it still discloses the important themes. The story â€Å"Girl, the same as other stories of the author, are based on the personal experience of this woman. The author is from Antigua, and such stories she wrote in order to present how it is to live as one of the colonies of Great Britain and as an independent stating having to deal with the after-effects of colonial rule. In her works, she speaks about discrimination, colonialism, the problem of AIDS that killed her brother, and other not less important problems that are related to the fact that she is a woman of African descent. This exact story deals with the experience of being a young woman, who live in a poor country. In general, this short story is a prose poem that reads like prose but still follows the conventional poetry rules. There are only two characters in the poem – a mother and a daughter. The story â€Å"Girl† is two pages long and consists of a dramatic monolog in which mother give advice to her daughter. It is very interesting that this prose poem is one long sentence that is separated by semi-colons. It is also easy to notice that it looks like a list of different commands about adult life. The advice given by the mother consists of how to do different domestic behaviors, like preparing Antiguan dishes, being a respectable woman, and upholding purity. Apart from this, there is a discussion how the daughter should communicate with the different people and how she should behave being in a romantic relationship with a man. Mostly, the story is a monolog of the mother because the daughter speaks only twice. The first time this has happened when she stands up for herself res ponding to one of the mother’s questions, and the second time has happened at the end of the story when she asks the mother some clarifying question. The story finishes with a rhetorical question from the mother wondering if the daughter didn’t understand how to communicate and behave with different people based on everything she was told. The story contains three main themes: domesticity, daughter and mother relationship, and sexual reputation. The mother strongly believes that knowledge of domesticity will help her to become a good member of the community. In general, the mother thinks that there are only two groups of women: the first one is the respectable women and the second one is â€Å"sluts†. The question of sexuality is presented very well. Yet, it is presented from quite a negative side. The mother is afraid that her daughter won’t be a respectable woman and she tries to teach her everything, as she thinks, her daughter should know about the world and the society. The story also demonstrates that the mother criticizes the daughter: the way how she walks and relates to people. Therefore, it possible to say that the relationship between these two women isn’t very close because they do not understand each other. The short story â€Å"Girl† will not lose her popularity until the problems described there disappear. For this reason, it is a very good idea for every young person to read this prose poem, analyze it, and take into consideration the ideas included there.

Domestic Violence A Serious Global Issue - 892 Words

Domestic violence has become a very serious global issue. Domestic violence can be described as â€Å"any incident of threatening behaviour, violence, or abuse (psychological, physical, sexual, financial or emotional) between adults who are or have been an intimate partner or family member, regardless of sexuality† (Home Office, 2008 as cited in Howard et al., 2010). When hearing the term domestic violence it is often pictured as a male physically, sexually, verbally, or emotionally abusing a female that they were or are intimate with. This paints a vivid picture in the heads of individuals because female partner abuse is rooted in history. For a long time women were considered possessions of men and property of the husband, who had the â€Å"obligation to control and discipline them† (txtbook). A man was allowed to beat his wife, as long as the stick was no thicker than his thumb (this is where the phrase â€Å"rule of thumb† comes from); this law was removed in 1820 (txtbook). In 2011, statistics for the overall rate of intimate partner violence was â€Å"542 per 100 000 women, almost four times higher than the rate of men† (txtbook). Additional research â€Å"demonstrates that women initiate physical aggression as often, or more often than men† (judicial citation). One of the problems with these studies is that they do not always indicate whether women use violence mainly as a source of self- defence (textbook). Using If-Then-Else and Switch in Conditional Statements

Conditional statements in a computer program support decisions based on a certain condition. If the condition is met, or true, a certain piece of code is executed. For example, you want to convert user-entered text to lowercase. Execute the code only if the user entered capitalized text. If not, you dont want to execute the code because it will lead to a runtime error. There are two main conditional statements used in Java:  the if-then and  if-then-else statements, and the switch statement. The If-Then and If-Then-Else Statements The most basic flow control statement in Java is if-then: if [something] is true, do [something]. This statement is a good choice for simple decisions. The basic structure of an if statement starts with the word if, followed by the statement to test, followed by curly braces that wrap the action to take if the statement is true. It looks like this: if (  statement  ) {// do something here....} This statement can also be extended to do something else if the condition is false: if (  statement  ) { // do something here...}else {// do something else...} For example, if you are determining whether someone is old enough to drive, you might have a statement that says if your age is 16 or older, you can drive; else, you cannot drive. int age 17;if age 16 {System.out.println(You can drive.);}else  {System.out.println(You are not old enough to drive.) There is no limit to the number of else statements you can add.   Conditional Operators In the example above, we used a single operator. These are the standard operators you can use: equal to: less than: more than: greater than or equal to: less than or equal to: In addition to these, there are four more operators used with conditional statements: and: not:!  or: ||is equal to:    For example, the driving age is considered to be from age 16 to age 85, in which case the AND operator can be used. else if ( age 16   age 85 ) This will return true only if both conditions are met. The operators NOT, OR, and IS EQUAL TO can be used in a similar way. The Switch Statement The switch statement provides an effective way to deal with a section of code that could branch in multiple directions based on a single variable. It does not support the conditional operators the if-then statement does, nor can it handle multiple variables. It is, however, a preferable choice when the condition will be met by a single variable because it can improve performance and is easier to maintain.   Heres an example: switch ( single_variable ) {case value://code_here;break;case value://code_here;break;default://set a default;} Note that you start with the switch, provide a single variable and then set out your choices using the term case. The keyword break completes each case of the switch statement. The default value is optional, but good practice. For example, this switch prints the lyric of the song  Twelve Days of Christmas  given a provided day. int day 5; String lyric ;  // empty string to hold the lyric switch (day) {case 1: lyric A partridge in a pear tree.;break;case 2:lyric 2 turtle doves;break;case 3:lyric 3 French hens;break;case 4:lyric 4 calling birds;break;case 5:lyric 5 gold rings;break;case 6:lyric 6 geese-a-laying;break;case 7:lyric 7 swans-a-swimming;break;case 8:lyric 8 maids-a-milking;break;case 9:lyric 9 ladies dancing;break;case 10:lyric 10 Lords-a-leaping;break;case 11:lyric 11 pipers piping;break;case 12:lyric 12 drummers drumming;break;default:lyric There are only 12 days.;break;}System.out.println(lyric); In this example, the value to test is an integer. Java SE 7 and later support a string object in the expression. For example:String day second;String lyric ;  // empty string to hold the lyric switch (day) {case first:lyric A partridge in a pear tree.;break;case second:lyric 2 turtle doves;break;case third:lyric 3 French hens;break;// etc.

Hemorrhoids Essay Example For Students

Hemorrhoids Essay Hemorrhoids are a digestive disorder that half the population of men and women experience at age fifty. There are two types of hemorrhoids: internal and external. Internal hemorrhoids are found inside the anus or in the lower rectum. External hemorrhoids are found on the tissue surrounding the anal sphincters(the two rings of muscle surrounding the opening to the anus). Hemorrhoids are swollen blood vessels in and around the anus. Hemorrhoids are not a dangerous condition, they only cause pain or discomfort, and tend to go away within a few days. They are tissues that can stretch and swell under pressure. This constant swelling and stretching is the cause for the discomfort of the patient with hemorrhoids. The symptoms for external hemorrhoids are itchy, swollen, lumps around the anal cavity. If the lumps become hard the hemorrhoids have become thrombosed external hemorrhoids. This occurs when the blood clots around a hemorrhoid. The symptoms of internal hemorrhoids include the appea rance of blood. This can be seen covering feces, on used toilet paper, or on the patients underwear. External hemorrhoids are common among pregnant women, due to the constant pressure on their abdomens. If an internal hemorrhoid starts to poke out of the anus it is called a protruding hemorrhoid. A protruding hemorrhoid may need to be treated through surgery. Hemorrhoids can be diagnosed by several types of examinations. External hemorrhoids are diagnosed simply by a doctor looking at the anus. The diagnosis of internal hemorrhoids requires probing. A doctor could perform a digital rectal exam. This is when a doctor wears a latex glove coated in Vaseline? and inserts a finger into the anus to feel for irregular lumps. Two other possible examinations require the use of hollowed out, flexible, lighted tubes. These tubes are called anoscopes or proctoscopes. These provide a visual of the rectum and anus. Treatment for external hemorrhoids include: the application of medicated cream, soaking in warm water several times a day, and the use of ice packs to reduce swelling. External hemorrhoids are treated with suppositories(pills taken through the anus) and, in rare cases, with minor surgery. Since hemorrhoids are partly caused by large solid bowl movements one treatment used to prevent hemorrhoids is a fiber supplement. This allows less water to be absorbed into the large intestines, making a softer stool. Fiber supplements such as psylium(Metamucil?) and methyl cellulose(Citrucel?) are the most commonly prescribed. Project Design Proposal Grocery Store

Question: Discuss about the Project Design Proposal Grocery Store system. Answer: Overview Business success is determined by many factors, however, none is as important as adaptability. This outcome necessitates the current system design that was outlined in the previous proposal where, the interface aimed to capitalise on the combination of business with information technology, particularly, e-commerce. Now, this subsequent short report aims to give a realistic approach to the system design. This report will outline all the necessary parameters needed to achieve an efficient system with an elaborate user interface. For one, the use cases will be provided including the usability of the design. Moreover, the evaluation tactics will be provided to ensure the set targets are accomplished (Usability, 2017). Scope An overall approach is proposed, where this report will cover the entire design of the users interfaces, from the system itself to the underlying database systems and the security measures. However, the delivery procedures of the products will solely be left for the supermarkets to develop. Objectives, Outputs and Targets Capitalising on the benefits of e-commerce is the overall objective where the customers will have an enhanced user experience while making their purchases. Furthermore, through this objective, other functionalities and advantages will be developed such as rewarding, enhanced, simple and helpful user system. However, in spite of the many benefits, the systems usability will depend on the principles of the designs (Usability, 2017). User Requirements Several assessments and evaluation were done to develop the following requirements. These requirements reflect the interests proposed by the envisioned users i.e. customers. Functional requirements: A system that develops personalised accounts i.e. create, renew and login to portals. Enhances user experience through orders made. A system that distinguished between placed and accepted orders. An interface with verifiable accounts i.e. purchase made by customers Geo-location to track users and available stores. Objectives determined from requirements Design requirements: Real-time system with adjustable user libraries to reflect available products. An interactive system that provide users with a one on one experience. Geo-location for tracking purposes (Usability partners, 2017). Outputs and Targets Outputs: A collaborative system that enhances business practises through information technology. An intuitive system with efficient interfaces to meet the customers needs (Carleton, 2013). Targets: Initial assessment Interface design Development through coding Testing Final system Maintenance and troubleshooting (Liu, 2013) Use Cases Actors Shoppers: New and active customers Online Shopping: shopping cart Delete items, Edit items and Add items View orders Authentication and Identity Purchase Identity, Checkout Identity, payment services Register new user Authentication Success Criteria Simple techniques will be used to weigh the projects progress, this will include the development of milestone and their accomplishment. For instance, achieving the interface design on time will serve as a first phase success of the system design (Usability, 2017). Moreover, the objectives identified i.e. helpful, easy, and engaging etc. will also serve as another measure of success. Key Assumptions Users are literate and understand the basics of mobile devices as well as the internet. Users have the necessary technological requirements; internet and devices. Stores have the necessary support infrastructure. Design Aims As stated before adaptability is the key to business success, this business mantra calls for an adaptive system that can satisfy any requirements including the design process itself. Agile approaches can meet this objective easily, where the system design is split into eloquent subsections based on requirements and expertise. Now, the overall design will collaborate the user requirements (from the initial evaluation) with that of the system developers. Moreover, these user requirements will enhance the templates developed so as to reflect the need of the user. Following the set templates, users functionalities through user stories will outline the final interface that again will reflect the users and the design functionalities (Pichler, 2012). Fig: Design Principle In the past, agile design has led to systems that meet varying user requirements, for instance, online retail stores such as Amazon and E-bay vary their system outlook based on the current market environment which is met through agile designs. In essence, the business can adjust user variables and implement them based on designers expertise. Design Outline Based on the established design, i.e. the proposed wireframes having 4 major interfaces System design Development of the initial interfaces The Login screen Access to personalised accounts. Home/ selecting a grocery store an interface to choose the desired grocery store. Grocery store An elaborate map with all active stores. Shopping interface where the purchases are made. Database supporting the interface with the underlying data. Testing assessment to evaluate the functionalities. Deployment and maintenance. Proposed Evaluation Methods In general, usability data from the proposed tests will be captured and analysed to develop conclusive results. These results will then establish the rate of success, however, a simple evaluation plan is proposed. The first click test to determine what draws to the users to the system. The usability test to test the practicality of the interfaces. System usability scale (SUS) A test that outlines the systems efficiency, usability and objective accomplishment. Final, expert reviews presenting the designs to renowned experts to test for different functionalities (Usability, 2017). References Carleton. B. (2013). Real-time User Interface Design. Just another School Day free essay sample

What does a regular school day in your life look like? Alarm goes off at six o’clock a.m., you rush to get everything done in fifteen minutes, hop in the car, get to school, attend your classes, see your friends, etc.? Sounds like a pretty typical day. Here’s my school day: wake up at seven o’clock, eat breakfast while reading some of my book, get dressed and brush my teeth, then get to work, moving through each course at my own pace. Sometimes I’ll start with algebra, other days I’ll begin with something simple like vocabulary or grammar. Whether a subject takes fifteen minutes or two hours, each course teaches me something new and challenges me. Also, with the click of a button, I can go to a threaded discussion and talk with new and old friends in my school—at any time! Sounds like a unique sort of day? Actually, kids all over the country can experience this sort of school day through an online learning program called K12. We will write a custom essay sample on Just another School Day or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page I believe that this learning environment is beneficial academically and socially to kids of all ages because it is offers a way to learn without the hassles and let downs of public schools. I wasn’t too thrilled when my mom informed me that I would be attending a Drama Club hosted by two K12 moms. It was a class for kids of all ages to learn about drama and take on some acting roles. I did not know anyone in the class, and was naturally shy and introverted on the first day. However, many of the kids seemed to know each other and laughter and happy chatter filled the room that day. I found that, as the weeks passed, I was soon laughing and chatting away as well with my new friends, giving them hugs when it was time to leave. Not all of these friends were just my age and gender, though. There were girls of all ages, and five boys brave enough to participate, but they all got along with the fifteen girls in the class. Because of the large group, I felt more comfortable attending other school events because I knew that someone from Drama Club would be there, such as the last park day of the summer for new and old K12 kids. There were several friends from Drama that came running up to us and gave me hugs. It was nice to go and not be a new, shy student but rather someone that could open up to new kids there that day. That bond of friendship between kids who were very unlike me or younger helped me feel more open to all of the kids I met in K12. Socially, K12 is a safe way to go because you do not run into many friendship problems and you get along well with other kids in the program. When I ended my eighth grade year, I knew that I would have to make some friends in the K12 high school since most of my friends were still in middle school. Because most of my friends were from Drama Club were much younger than me, all but one would still be in middle school so I would not have too much more interaction through K12 with them. My chance came when I went to the high school orientation at a local college. There were about thirty other kids there, all milling about the outdoor courtyard at the college, talking about their interests and laughing over little jokes or a found similarity. One of the girls I talked to, Frankie, had been in my CSAP group the year before, as well as two other girls that I had seen at CSAP. Dillon, one of the boys that my friend and I met, introduced us to some of his friends, as well. You could immediately tell that some kids bonded with others really well. They were all friendly, and we socialized for a few minutes before the teachers yelled out to go talk to someone new. There were all ages of high school kids there that day, some shy, some open and talkative. A lot of them seemed as clueless as me as to how the year would turn out. â€Å"I have no idea what this year is going to be like,† I said to many of them. â€Å"Don’t worry,† they usually replied, a knowing smile on their face. â€Å"I don’t either.† It felt good to know that whatever happened, there were other kids out there who could support me because they really understood what I was going through. Other social aspects of K12 are the threaded discussions and Class Connects hosted by our teachers. A threaded discussion is a place for students to go and talk about hobbies, movies, books, and even school related things. While the teachers monitor these discussions, students have free range to talk of whatever they like without having to answer questions and prompts of teachers. Class Connects are like online chat rooms where a teacher can answer questions of students regarding school work, and students also have a chance to interact in these settings. â€Å"Meeting† other kids online is more comfortable, eliminating the embarrassment and awkward silences of meeting face to face for the first time. And it is always really cool to meet someone at a social event and say, â€Å"Hey, I talk to you on the history threaded discussion!† People have often asked me what it is like to be part of an online school. Most of them don’t realize that just because I am schooled at home does not mean that I do not have any friends or that the work is too easy. I am always delighted to see their faces take on a surprised look as I tell them that I do indeed have many friends through my school, and that the work is very challenging. I work from eight o’clock in the morning until almost three o’clock in the afternoon, completing lessons in algebra, literary analysis and composition, physical science, physical education, world history, and fine art. Although sometimes I do wonder what it would be like to go to a public school. While it might be nice to be in a setting with so many other kids my age, I enjoy being at home in my day and being able to create my own work schedule. The bottom line is, I think that schooling online is a wonderful way to learn because you can work at your own pace in your own home. While you don’t have a ton of interaction with other kids all day long, there are plenty of opportunities to make new friends. Being part of an online school has been a great experience for me. I love how uniform it is and how much easier to organize than homeschooling. All of the students are different and unique, and it is really great to get to know kids of all ages. The school work is challenging but often times enjoyable, and it teaches me how to be self motivated and driven in life. All in all being part of K12 has opened my eyes to new experiences and learning techniques that kids should continue to benefit from.

The Reality Of Huckleberry Finn essays

The Reality Of Huckleberry Finn essays Huckleberry Finn is a book that contains elements of romantic and realistic fiction; even though it contains both these elements, it is a book on realistic fiction, and that is how it was written to be. Mark Twain used historical facts and data to make this story realistic, it used situations that would normally happen in the time the novel takes place in. Huckleberry Finn's father is a vagrant and a despicable person; his actions are written to how a man of that characteristic would act. Two more characters in this novel also act accordingly; the Duke and the Dauphin. A couple of crooks and frauds who are ill at heart and produce no good at all. A kind man Jim, a black slave at the beginning of this novel, goes through much and many people go through much for him. Of these characters I have just mentioned, Jim is the only considerate one, and the Duke and the Dauphin and Huckleberry Finn's father are evil. Huckleberry Finn has no strong feelings for his father except that of resentment. His father abandoned him when he was a child and come backs to town once in a while. His father would beat Huck many times usually because he was drunk. This is not unusual for someone drunk to do if that person is a beater. "I used to be scared of him all the time, he tanned me so much." (Twain, p. 25) Besides him beating Huck, his father has put fear into Huck, which is sad, but is realistic. Besides beating Huck, he also scolded him for trying to get an education; he though Huck was trying to become smarter than his father, and he wouldn't have that. "You're educated, too, they say can read and write. You think you're better'n your father, now, don't you, because he can't? I'll take it out of you." (Twain, pg. 26) Not only is Huck's father mean and petty, he is also greedy. "'I've been in town two days, and I hain't heard nothing but about you bein' rich. I heard about it away down the riv er, too. That's why I come. You git me t...

Claiming Social Security Disability and Veterans Disability

Claiming Social Security Disability and Veterans Disability Claiming SSDI VA Disability Some disabled veterans are eligible to receive both Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) through the Social Security Administration (SSA) and Disability Benefits through the Veterans Administration (VA) at the same time. A detailed article on the process appears here.About VA SSDIThe VA provides disability benefits to military veterans who were disabled during active duty. They examine military service medical records, and base determinations only on illnesses and injuries which occurred during active duty. Benefits are based on a disability rating of 0-100%.The SSA provides SSDI to workers with medical issues who are unable to work. To receive SSDI, applicants must be totally disabled. While the SSA considers a range of conditions, applicants must prove they will be out of work for over one year, or that their condition is terminal.Claiming Both Veterans who receive VA benefits for disability can also apply for SSDI, provided they are unable to work at all, without interfere nce. The SSA considers all qualifying conditions, including those already addressed under the VA rating, when deciding.Expedited ClaimsVeterans meeting specific criteria, including a 100% permanent, total disability rating, qualify for expedited processing of SSDI claims. Through a service provided by the Wounded Warrior program, veterans who became disabled on active duty on or after October 1, 2001 can request expedited processing in writing on their application. We Can HelpIf you are disabled and unable to work, call Disability Attorneys of Michigan for a free confidential consultation. Cardiovascular system Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2500 words

Cardiovascular system - Essay Example Demonstrate the adaptability of the cardiovascular system to autoregulate to two different, stressful conditions (1. Max test 2. Steady state exercise at 65% maximum oxygen level). Explain in detail how the different cardiovascular components such as heart rate, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, total pulmonary resistance, stroke volume and blood flow, respond to these stressful conditions. Explain in detail the physiological mechanisms responsible for the changes observed. The cardiovascular system has the capabilities to adapt to a number of external factors. An example of the cardiovascular system’s ability to adapt is seen in response to a max test. This test measures the volume of oxygen in the blood that the body uses in one minute of maximal exercise. A stationary exercise machine is used when administering the test. The first-minute interval is done at a very easy level. As each minute passes the levels become increasingly more difficult until you reach a levels when you can no longer continue. The max test requires you to wear a mask and to breathe through your mouth. The mask is connected to an analyzer that looks at the levels of carbon dioxide and oxygen in the exhaled gas. You are also hooked up to a heart monitor. Using the information gathered you could figure out your cardiovascular fitness and define your maximum aerobic power. The max test causes an increase in heart rate, because there is an increased need by your muscles for oxygenated blood ... stroke volume in this case would decrease due to the fact that the peripheral vessels, which have higher pressures, increases. The increased heart rate causes the ventricles to not fill as full, thus lowering the volume pumped out of the ventricles by each contraction. The final stage of the max test is anaerobic. This stage looks at how quickly the body can remove the lactic acid. The increased heart rate helps in the removal of lactic acid. If you have crossed this threshold you will be prematurely fatigued and may feel your muscles burn. Toga et al. states that "during hypoxia, the total" pulmonary "resistance decreased with increased blood flow" (Effects of hypoxia, 1998, 1003). Steady state exercise is different from the max text, because it does not increase in intervals. In the steady state test you also have the increase in systolic blood pressure, but there is no dramatic increase in diastolic blood pressure. When steady state exercise has been done over time the effects are a minimal change in blood pressure and a higher red blood cell count (blood is more easily saturated with oxygen). Once finished with steady state exercise the systolic blood pressure will drop to below normal levels for a brief period of time. Steady state exercise, when done on a regular basis, will decrease heart rate. A decrease in heart rate will allow the ventricles more time to fill. . Stroke volume is the volume of blood in the ventricles during diastole minus the volume of blood in the ventricles during systole of the same heartbeat. If the heart rate is slower it allows for more filling of the ventricles hence a larger stroke volume. There are other factors that also contribute to these different cardiovascular components. Establishment of Slavery in English Colonies Research Paper

Establishment of Slavery in English Colonies - Research Paper Example ough one should not excuse the men and women who started slavery in the colonies on the basis of cultural relativism, one also should not ignore the causes of slavery in the first place. First, understanding the origins of slavery is important for preventing the institution from ever returning. Second, it is important to scholars to understand the social and economic conditions of the early English colonies, and the perspective of slaves (and slaveholders) provides an excellent perspective on that history. Common belief in our day is that slavery itself began as an expression of racist ideologies against the African continent (Williams). However, it seems more likely that slavery took its origins in the English colonies with economic factors and the growing capitalist ideology sweeping across Europe and her farthest outposts. Slavery on the British Isles was nearly nonexistent throughout the kingdom’s history; nevertheless, the institution of slavery spread like wildfire throughout its colonies, and was common operating procedure by the 17th century. In her seminal work The Origin of American Slavery, historian Betty Wood addresses the question of social and economic causes for slavery in the English colonies. She ascribes the origin of slavery to both factors: racism and economics. She writes, â€Å"Albeit with the benefit of hindsight, it would seem from the outset American slavery was characterized by an awareness of ethnic differences that over the course of a century hardened into an overt racism† (Wood 7-8). But this does not answer the crucial question of whether racist ideologies or capitalist ideologies played the crucial role in the very beginning of slave trade. There are arguments to be made for either case. A Marxist historian, for instance, might blame capitalism more readily than a historian of African history, such as William Dillon Piersen in his Afrocentric From Africa to America. To consider both sides of the debate, one must analyze the
